Born on August 23, 1963, in Tulln, Austria
Georg Zahradnik was born as the second of three sons into a loving and dedicated family. His mother devoted most of her time to the family, but also worked part-time in a dry cleaner’s and later as a bookseller. His father, initially a turner, switched to production planning and eventually to road and rail construction after a work accident. These diverse influences shaped Georg’s interests and skills from an early age.
Together with his father, Georg spent many hours repairing old cars and maintaining the family’s oil heating system. These shared experiences laid the foundation for Georg’s lifelong enthusiasm for technology and craftsmanship. In kindergarten, he dreamed of becoming a carpenter, and in primary school, he was inspired by Konrad Lorenz, which sparked his desire to become an animal researcher.
However, life had different plans for Georg. His technical interest eventually led him to HTL St. Pölten, specializing in industrial engineering, even though his original wish was to attend the aviation engineering school. This decision turned out to be the right one, as it set him on the path to IT, where he began his professional career after graduating from high school. Although his dream of becoming a pilot was thwarted by his nearsightedness, Georg found his calling in the IT industry.
His professional journey began as a freelancer, where he honed his skills in bookkeeping and warehouse management. Georg’s ability to listen to users and understand their needs was a valuable asset. He later transitioned into the financial sector, where he played a significant role in the development of telebanking and internet banking. His career took him through various roles, including IT manager in a mechanical engineering company, before eventually returning to auto financing.
In his personal life, Georg is a dedicated individual. He is a proud father of two sons and a daughter and enjoys the title of grandpa. His passion for community work is evident in his involvement with the Traismauer gymnastics club, of which he has been a member since he was two years old. Since he was 16, he has served as an instructor and official, and since 2003 he has been the chairman of the club. He also served as chairman of the state association of the ÖTB for eleven years and is currently vice president of Turnsport NÖ.
Georg’s life is marked by dedication, passion, and a deep understanding of technology and community. His journey is a living testament to how diverse interests and experiences can shape a rich and fulfilling life.
